Ditch the plastic…

Ditch the plastic and start getting your H2O fix with these reusable aluminum bottles by Jeeto www.jeeto.com/bottlecollection.html. They are bright and fun, and wont clog up the landfills, release dangerous toxins, or waste valuable resources being shipped to you. And, if you ever get sick of these rockin bottles, you can recycle them! Pick from any of their stylish designs, but our favorite is the owl….

Everyone goes ga ga for GREEN baby showers!

Tis the season all year long for baby showers! And now, thankfully, the trend is to go green! Here are some ideas for a green babyshower…
1. Give organic coffee or chocolates as the party favors- in fact, pour them into mason jars and add a bright pink or blue ribbon for the arriving bambino!
2. Serve local and organic food- simple berries look gorgeous in a glass bowl, and a garden salad in chinese takeout boxes make for very festive treats!
3. Make the diaper cake out of eco friendly diapers www.natyusa.com
4. Use these adorable invitations- they are made from seed paper and your guests can plant them and watch them “bloume”!!

Give peas a chance…

Starting your baby on solids can be as exciting as it is messy. There are no words to describe the movement that an infant’s mouth will make when they are fed a solid food for the first time! We experienced this personally a few weeks ago with our son. Luckily for us, he LOVED it! He took the rice cereal, then the peas and no the carrots. The kid cant get enough…neither can his bib, hands, pants and high chair! But who really cares how big the mess is, the most important thing is that he enjoys his meal and I enjoy what he is getting nutritionally. I did some research on organic baby foods- have tried Earths Best and here is what I think…

Even though its organic, doesn’t mean it’s pure. After all, those grocery store brands, even organic ones, have to ensure the food has a shelf life of 2 YEARS!!! So they are process them with extended high-heat exposure, which can destroy vital nutrients and deplete the food of its natural taste and vibrant color. I am going to try making the food myself…if that is too hard (which I cant imagine pureeing some cooked veggies and raw fruits can be that hard), I found a cool site that makes fresh baby food that you can freeze or serve within a few days. Check them out!

“Have your cupcake and eat it too.”

Check out this amazing company called Bella Cupcake Couture
http://www.bellacupcakecouture.com/
I found it as I was researching ideas for an upcoming baby shower I am hosting and fell in LOVE! These cupcake wrappers are not only totally chic and modern, but they are eco friendly! They are made of recycled paper and printed with soy ink. The owner of the company started it after being laid off from a bank that went down in this crazy economic downturn. Her entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and appreciation for eco friendly products makes her a favorite of Bloume baby!!
